10 Steps to Finding Your Soulmate Clients: Step 1

Step 1: Get Clear on Your Personal Mission and Vision

Having a clear personal mission and vision is the most important part of starting a business. Too often, people open businesses and need to shut them down due to lack of clarity, getting burned out, and not making a sustainable profit. If you are in a business doing something you are truly meant to do, then your business will become a source of energy and attraction.

Your vision is your soul’s treasure. It is the motivational factor to keep you in alignment. It’s the reason you get up every day. To get an idea of what your vision is, ask what is a cause that is near and dear to my heart? If I could waive a magic wand and solve this one problem in the world, what would that be?

Your mission is your map. It determines how you will get to your vision. It’s the who, what, where, when, why, and how you will work on achieving your vision. This also includes what type of people you want to have around you. A great book to reference is How to Develop Your Personal Mission Statement by Stephen R. Covey. He does an excellent job bringing people through the steps of discovering their mission.

It’s important to make sure you have a level of clarity around this, otherwise you could be working in a business or career that has nothing to do with who you really are. Burnout, lack of satisfaction, lack of fulfillment, and loss of power can come about if you are not in alignment. Your life’s work or business should feed your soul and your wallet.

When developing your mission and vision you also want to ask yourself, who are the people you love to be around and help. Who are the people that give you the most energy?  What types of characteristics do they have? What passions and hobbies do they have? What types of differences are they trying to make in the world?

Take the time to develop your own mission and vision statement. Answer these questions to gain insight into what your purpose driven business should be.
